A little project I have been working on for a while is the linear position sensor for the GM Trimatic or also known as the TH180 (Turbo Hydramatic 180) and now its time for release.
As you know the Trimatic came in LH & RH side shifter depending on what it came from which made this kit even more challenging. My kit can be used on both variants.
The sensor bracket and kit I have come up with means you can use your original shifter rods or an aftermarket cable, it will not interfere. The sensor sits on the box instead of beside which means it’s nowhere near exhaust pipes nor is making the box any physically wider.
kit includes:
Linear sensor and lead with 3 pin female Deutsch plug fitted.
1m lead with 3 pin male Deutsch plug fitted.
3d printed carbon infused bracket, M4 nut and bolt.
Sensor tab and M4 nut and bolt.
Extended pan bolt and half nut.
Kit has 4 points of adjustment to fine tune that setup.
So what can this do?
With this kit fitted, the gear position can be displayed on a digital dash (like the iC-7, UC-10) giving the driver immediate notification of the gear change and position. This in turn allows the tuner to map and implement various gear-based strategies from idle control, boost control to starter motor lockout or reverse light activation.
Works with Elite, Nexus series ECUs, iC-7, UC-10 Digital Displays, also other aftermarket stand-alone ECUs and displays.
